Mass Spectrometry protein sequence DataBase.

MSDB is a composite non-identical protein sequence database built from a number of primary source databases. Sequences from the higher priority databases are preferentially retained. The present source databases (in order of priority) are:

  • PIR1                                               
  • PIR2                                               
  • PIR3                                               
  • PIR4                                               
  • SPTREMBL                                 
  • REMTREMBL                              
  • GENBANK
  • SWISSPROT
  • NRL3D

(SWISSPROT is given a relatively low priority due to potential licensing restrictions on users.)
